Clinical Research Policies Clinical Research Policies
NIH Policy on the Dissemination of NIH-Funded Clinical Trial Information. The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is issuing this policy to promote broad and responsible dissemination of information from NIH-funded clinical trials through ClinicalTrials.gov.

This policy enforces the tracking in Velos of all human participants (inpatient and outpatient) enrolled in clinical research protocols conducted at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (including any University of Miami facilitiy, all affiliated and satellite locations as well as any Jackson Health Systems (JHS) facility).

The procedures outlined in this policy are intended to facilitate the identification of patients participating in research throughout JHS facilities, to ensure appropriate institutional compliance within and among departments and to make sure charges are reviewed before the patient’s charges are dropped into the automated billing system.

This policy introduces a form titled the Research Encounter Ticket. Designated research staff must identify on this form the conventional care/standard of care/routine care encompassed on the research protocol as well as any research care: procedures that the sponsor agrees to cover in the contract.
