InfoEd is a web-based electronic Research Administration (eRA) system utilized by the University for finding funding, locating collaborators, and for preparing, routing, submitting, and tracking proposals. The InfoEd modules currently used by UM include:
PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT (PD): Facilitates the creation, routing, tracking, and submission of grant applications, and validates federal proposal forms to assure an error-free application when submitting electronically. The University utilizes PD for submission of NIH applications currently.
PROPOSAL TRACKING (PT): Provides comprehensive support for central administrators (ORA) for managing grants and contracts at the pre-award stage.
Sponsored Programs Information Network (SPIN/SMARTS): SPIN is a vast funding opportunity database. It includes sources of funding for research and educational purposes from federal, non-federal, foundations, and other sources. SMARTS provides automatic email notifications of new funding opportunity announcements as they become available.
GENIUS: Captures investigator curriculum vitae information, and serves as a central database to enable collaboration within UM and worldwide, and additionally utilizing this information streamlines completion of agency application forms.
LAB ANIMALS MANAGEMENT (LAM): Provides comprehensive support for central administrators (IACUC) for managing animal research protocols.
The Office of Research Administration (ORA) appreciates the continued partnership with the UM research community to facilitate and expedite the processing of your externally sponsored applications. UM has implemented two initiatives to facilitate successful collaborations and application submission: the ORA Application Submission Policy and the InfoEd PD NIH Electronic Applications Policy.
